This is a large scarab paperweight. I prefer to see it as a work of art. It appears to be a fired ceramic and has a slight ring to it when tapped. I am not entirely sure how it was made. It may have been partially cast and partially carved. At some point the scarab was broken. This may have happened during manufacturing. All of the pieces are nicely super-glued back together. Under close examination one can see the seams, otherwise the piece is quite attractive. It took a lot of work to create this piece. I think it is a contemporary, colored to have an antique patina. About 3 inches long. If this paperweight is made of a resin material, it is quite hard and crisp.
This is the largest scarab I have. It is bold and draws one's attention to it. Though I think this was designed as a paperweight, I would put this scarab in a glass case along with other Egyptian art.
