This is a vintage Newsboy Cap. I found it in an estate sale near Elkton,
KY. It is a child's size medium wool
cap. I do not know how old it is, but
imagine pre-1950, if not as early as the 1920s.
It is perfect for a vintage clothing collection or for use in theater as
a period costume piece. In the lining
there is a crest along with the text: "Made Expressly for Tots-Teens Shop,
Clarksville Tenn." There are little
nibbles in the wool as it was stuffed in the bottom of a box of old handmade
baby clothing, in the back of a closet.
This is an incredible find. I cannot imagine there are many that survived. I am going to look for someone in Clarksville, TN that collects vintage clothing. Perhaps the Customs Museum will have some leads.
